Dr. Ibrahim Al-Zakwani is an Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences and Chief Pharmacist at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital in Muscat, Oman. He received his Ph.D. at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, USA, in October 2004, specializing in Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes Research. Dr. Al-Zakwani has also worked as a Manager in Health Outcomes Research at HealthCore Inc., in Wilmington, Delaware, USA.

Dr. Al-Zakwani received both his Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Pharmacy (1992) and Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacy (1996) from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Following his Bachelor degree in Pharmacy, Dr. Al-Zakwani completed his residency with the National Co-operative Chemists in the United Kingdom and received his Membership from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (MRPharmS) in 1992. In 2002, he received a Master of Science degree in Health Policy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Zakwani is a member of the Accreditation Committee of the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB). Dr. Al-Zakwani also served as a member of the Medical Research Committee at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University, Al-Khodh, Oman. Dr. Al-Zakwani is also an Editor-in-Chief of the Oman Medical Journal. He has also recently (January 2008) been elected as a member of Sultan Qaboos University Hospital's Continuous Professional Development Committee.

Dr. Al-Zakwani has published several manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, including Seizure, Current Medical Research & Opinion, Journal of Clinical Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Clinical Drug Investigation, Diabetes Research & Clinical Practice, BMC Medical Ethics, Cost-effectiveness Resource Allocation and Journal of Pediatric Neurology . He has also presented a number of oral and poster presentations at International Conferences, including those of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology, the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, and the American Diabetes Association.
